Proper drainage and lot grading are amongst the most crucial stages in the construction of a new home. Final grading is the last stage that needs to be correctly completed on a new build home, before any landscaping can begin. If surface water is not correctly controlled, it can lead to numerous long-term problems and costly damage. We ensure proper drainage away from your home, set out by specifications through the City of Edmonton’s Surface Drainage Bylaw (or corresponding regulations for any municipality your home resides).

At Earthworx Landscape Construction Ltd. we only use high-grade screened topsoil for all of our final grade jobs that we do, a common factor that most people overlook when hiring a company to complete their final grade is the quality of the soil that is being spread throughout their yard. Poor quality soil can lead to a jungle of weeds in your yard, and having probably just moved into your new home that is just another headache that you shouldn’t have to worry about.

When you first start the process of final grade, you should at the very least have a rough plan in regards to the type of landscaping that you want for your yard. If you are planning on installing a future patio, Walkway or artificial turf within your yard then you should have a clear road map put in place before you start the final grade process. We don’t want you to pay twice! To avoid extra costs for our clients we like to have base plan set in place; during the final grade process we can add the proper base materials to the areas in your landscape that require them, such as paver patios, walkways, and artificial turf. The proper base materials should be added during the final grade process to ensure that we don’t need to go back and excavate the topsoil from that specific area. This process will streamline your landscape project with efficiency and cost reduction.
